Zoning and Planning Issues Around Lake Ramsey
[I am a visual person, so I’ve tried to create a map to help us see where all this is happening.]
There are several different zoning and planning issues that have recently arisen around Lake Ramsey; much as been talked about in our Lake Ramsey neighborhood e-mail group. I’ve done some online research, and here is what I’ve found about three of them:
REZONING FOR CHEVRON GAS STATION AND STORE
>Parish #2025-4242-ZC
>5.059 acres (of the 7.46 acres parcel) at the southwestern corner of Hwy. 25 and Lake Ramsey Road (This area is an estimate based on documents filed with Parish).
>Zoning change was approved unanimously by the Zoning Board at public meeting on 7/1/25.
>The new traffic light was an improvement that seemed to seal the deal. (I’m still wondering how that light got approved and who paid for it.) The Zoning board also expressed the (sad) attitude that some of “these things are inevitable.”
>Next Step: The developer must submit plans for approval to the Planning Board. Residents do have input in this process. The next Planning meeting is August 12; but this is not yet set on the agenda.
MINOR SUBDIVISION, NORTHSIDE OF LAKE RAMSEY RD, SOUTH OF BULLOCK
>Parish #2025-4309-MSP
>3.09 acres on north side of Lake Ramsey Road, between Hwy. 25 and Bullock Road
Owner, Joseph Stoker Rawls
>Zoning permits this use, but Parish requires plan approval; each lot must be a minimum of one acre each [See Minor Subdivision? below].
>Next Step: According to the yellow notice sign, this is on the agenda for August 12 Planning meeting; the public can give input.
HURRICANE DEBRIS OR STAGING AREA
>This was mentioned by our council person, Martha Cazaubon, at the July HOA Meeting. Thanks goes out to several neighbors for getting this property identified. It appears the access point is between16062-16068 Lake Ramsey Rd., two residences; unless another access is planned. Not sure at all how this is going to work out, curious not only why the parish chose this parcel, but how this was all done without resident being notified..
>This property consists of (2) 39 acre parcels; now owned by St. Tammany Parish.
>Lisa has also told us that more info about this staging site can be obtained by contacting Joe Labrano with Public Works, 985-898-2557.
Anyone who hears something new, or different, please let me know. Thanks. Elizabeth 8/4/25
